Out of School Activities

Out of school activities are a vital part of any school and St. Joseph’s is able to offer a wide range of sporting and other educational activities.
During the year a range of events is organised. These vary from year to year and may include:-
• Educational trip to Paris for Year 10 pupils.
• Prizegiving & Award ceremonies where achievements, academic and non-academic, are celebrated.
• Christmas Carol Service.
• Residential courses at Outdoor Education Centres, e.g. Shannaghmore, Killowen.
• Student exchange programmes with Spanish students.
• A Reading Partnership Programme involving senior pupils assisting junior pupils with their reading.
• School Sports teams, e.g. Gaelic Football for boys and girls, Netball, Soccer, Camogie CrossCountry, Orienteering, etc.
• Fundraising events for a variety of charities.
• Sports Day–all pupils are encouraged to participate in athletic and novelty events.
• Irish Language courses in the Donegal Gaeltacht.
• School Formal for Year12 pupils.
• Educational Science trip to Disneyland,Paris.
Extended Schools Programme

Summer Scheme
The Summer Scheme which runs in July, has been operating now for six years. Its aim is to improve literacy and numeracy skills and self- esteem in a ‘fun’ way and also to introduce the new Year 8 pupils to the school. Thirty pupils selected from Primary 7 in our feeder primary schools participate. A wide range of activities are offered to pupils and trips include:> Dublin & Belfast Zoos
> Lisburn swimming pool
> Tayto crisp factory
> Horse riding
> Ulster American Folk Park
