A-Level Results

EXCELLENT A LEVEL RESULTS CELEBRATED AT ST. JOSEPH’S

Staff and students at St. Joseph’s High School were delighted as they celebrated another year of excellent A Level results.

Since A-levels were introduced 5 years ago, there has been a steady increase in the numbers remaining on in the Sixth Form and this year’s cohort was the largest ever.

St. Joseph’s students have consistently achieved above the Northern Ireland Secondary School average, and this year was no exception.

A-Level Results
Mr Scally congratulates Colleen Crilly who achieved a fantastic A* and
two B’s with Marie Carr who also achieved a brilliant A*, A and B with
Roisin Mc Shane who gained an excellent three A’s in her exam. All
students were thrilled with their results.

Mr. Kevin Scally, the Principal, said that he was delighted with the results. He said that 70% of the grades were either an A*,A or B.

The Principal went on “These are outstanding results. It is a fitting reward for the students and their teachers. Our students have worked extraordinarily hard to achieve this level of success”

."They are also an impressive demonstration of how we continue to maintain high standards in all aspects of school life."

ST. JOSEPH’S CELEBRATES BEST EVER RESULTS AT G.C.S.E

St. Joseph’s High School, Crossmaglen has achieved its best ever G.C.S.E results this year. 69% of the students gained 5 or more GCSE grades at A*-C, an increase on the previous year, which was 65%.

The school’s results have steadily shown an improvement every year since 2005 and is performing well above the Northern Ireland average for secondary schools.

Among the outstanding results was that of Dearbhla O’Farrell, who gained 7 A* and 2 A grades. Dearbhla is a past pupil of Clonalig Primary School.

Denise Rowland, a past pupil of Cullyhanna Primary School, achieved 2 A* grades and 7 A grades.

Principal Kevin Scally said “You cannot get the kind of results we get without hard work, not just by the students but by the staff and parents. This is a team effort."

“The downturn in employment prospects means many more young people, particularly boys, want to remain at school after the age of 16. The success of our students this year at GCSE has resulted in a big increase in the numbers in our sixth form".

" We started offering A levels several years ago, and it has steadily grown in size. We anticipate a further substantial increase this year."
